Education for Sustainable Development
The Junior Landcare Project creates economic opportunity for children, young people and community through the education and practice of sustainable land and water management.
The project focuses on school community gardens and land cultivation, water and soil preservation, education for children using the environment and training for young people and community. These initiatives teach children, young people and community how to utilise the land as a sustainable food and income source in order to become self-reliant.
Based on the grassroots landcare movement originally developed in Australia, landcare has expanded and been adopted around the world including in South Africa and Uganda. This project is delivered in association with the Uganda Landcare Network.
